Sky Blues in the Community - Football Development Manager

Role Title: Football Development Manager (Facilities)

Salary: £24,000-£28,000 three year fixed term contract

Hours: Full-Time Employee (Min 37.5 hours per week)

Reports to: Head of Community

Other Details:

  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a suitable vehicle required (office based at the Ricoh Arena Stadium with the position requiring some travel across Coventry and Warwickshire)
  • This role will include weekend work and occasional evenings.
  • Subject to an enhanced DBS check

 

Role Purpose: The post holder will coordinate the delivery of Football Development Programmes across Coventry working specifically with Football Foundation sites – including Moat House Leisure & Neighborhood Centre, Blue Coat School, Holbrooks Park and John White Community Centre. The Football Development Manager will be responsible for working with key partners within the city to oversee the strategic implementation of bespoke football development plans.

About Sky Blues in the Community (SBitC):

Based at the Ricoh Arena Stadium, we are a registered charity that provides community based initiatives on behalf of Coventry City Football Club. This puts us in a unique position to address local priorities and national issues using the branding of the football club to impact positively in our community. We see it as our responsibility to utilise our position for the benefit of the local community across Coventry and Warwickshire and have a positive impact in our local area.

We are actively looking to contribute to local, regional and national priorities, using Coventry City Football Club to positively impact on a range of agendas such as physical activity, health and wellbeing, community safety, community cohesion, employment and skills. 

To focus and influence the work of Sky Blues in the Community in achieving our mission and supporting tackling local priorities, our work is categorised under four core themes, each with their own headline goal: 

  • Sport – Engage people of all ages and abilities in sport and physical activity 
  • Health – Promote healthy behaviours, empowering people to take control of their own health and well-being 
  • Education – Inspire learning and personal development to raise aspirations, attainment and achievement 
  • Inclusion – Provide opportunities for people and communities that face common barriers

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

General:

  • Establish and chair a city wide strategic football development steering group containing key partners, ensuring that funded sites within the city are meeting key development outcomes
  • Ensuring that the needs and requirements of partner charter standard clubs are met in line with the FA National Game Strategy.
  • Contribute to raising the profile and the perception of the Charity and County Football Association in leading and developing grass roots football.
  • Act as an advocate/ambassador for the Future Game and England DNA development objectives; including the FA licensed Coaches Club.

 

Strategic:

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key partners locally to ensure the success of each site in line their football development plans
  • Work with the County Football Association and charter standard clubs to deliver a workforce development programme across the City including young leadership.
  • Create ,deliver, record, monitor & evaluate football development plan’s  for Moat House Leisure & Neighborhood Centre, Blue Coat School, Holbrooks Park and John White Community Centre .
  • Ensure football development plans are kept up to date and robust by implementing a monitoring and evaluation process for each site. Ensure all objectives, targets, monitoring, evaluation and reporting requirements are met in line with key stakeholders, football development plans and football foundation requirements


Marketing and Communication:

  • Work closely with the Design and Marketing Officer to promote activities.
  • Engage with local media to support the publicity of the four sites. 
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of beneficiaries for monitoring and marketing purposes.
  • Utilise social media to promote activities and communicate with the local community.

 

Staff and Volunteers:

  • Coordinate staff timetabling and delivery for staff who work on activities.
  • Recruit suitable coaches to support the ongoing delivery activities.
  • Design and deliver a programme of services to clubs and leagues, supporting the recruitment and development of volunteers to take a more active role.


Finance:

  • Manage project budgets – including all forms of income & expenditure and financial processes.
  • Collate financial evidence and report back in line with funding and SBitC requirements. 

 

Other:

  • Represent SBitC and Coventry City Football Club in a professional manner at all times.
  • Carry out duties in line with SBitC policies & procedures (with a commitment to Safeguarding).
  • Conduct self in line with the SBitC organisational values.
  • Be committed to continuous professional development relevant to the post.
  • Undertake other duties from time to time to commensurate with the grade of post.
