our achievements

We have been extremely successful so far. Since July 2000, our achievements include:

  • Provided 1,840 schools with new football facilities.

  • Funded over 630 changing pavilions.

  • Built over 310 artificial turf pitches.

  • Supported 2,181 community initiatives using football as a vehicle to tackle issues including crime, drug abuse, health inequalities, low educational attainment and social exclusion.

  • Funded 1,517 projects through the Small Grant/Grow the Game Scheme to the tune of £8.4m.

  • Given away over 288,000 junior kits to under-18 teams and adults with disabilities.

Through a huge investment from the Premier League, The FA, Sport England and the Government, has led a much needed and long overdue transformation of grass roots facilities in this country.

Just as the Football Trust helped to turn dangerous, old professional football stadia into some of the world’s best sporting arenas, so the Football Foundation has delivered facilities worth more than £1 billion, over the past nine years, which has begun to transform the grassroots football landscape in this country.

Pitches are no longer out of action for long periods during the winter due to poor weather conditions. The very latest generation artificial turf pitches are available all the time.

Moreover, all Football Foundation funded artificial pitches come with floodlights, which significantly increases availability during winter evenings, and brand new changing facilities designed specifically for use by both male and female players are enhancing the grass roots football experience.
