what is the scheme?
The facilities scheme provides money to develop new or improve facilites for community benefit. These include changing rooms or clubhouses, grass or artificial pitches and multi-use games areas.
Can you apply?
We welcome applications from football clubs, multi-sport clubs, local authorities, all educational establishments, registered charitable organisations, not for profit companies limited by guarantee, industrial and provident societies and unincorporated not for profit organisations.
We cannot consider your application if you start work or appoint a contractor before we approve a grant for your project. However, if we give you permission in writing beforehand, we may still be able to consider your application.
Before you submit an application, we strongly recommend you fill in an expression of interest form and discuss your project with your County FA Development Manager and your FA Regional Facilities Manager.
What do we give money for?
We aim to support projects that:
The types of facilities that we give money for include:
We also provide development (revenue) grants to deliver football development associated with the new facility e.g. coaching, football development officer etc.
Note: We have a fast track system for facilities grants of up to and including £20,000.
The maximum grant available from the Foundation for each facilities project is £1m.
We usually decide how much grant to give your project based on all the circumstances of the project. However, you must show you have tried hard to get funding for your project from inside and outside your organisation and that there is no other money available.
Your financial circumstances will be the main thing we consider when deciding how much we can give you. If you have more money available or have more power to create more income, you are likely to get a much smaller grant than organisations which have not.
The most we can pay is 90% of the project costs, but we will only award as much as this in exceptional circumstances. For example, applications where there is an outstanding need for a facility and where the project will have a major effect on under-represented groups in football (such as women and girls, people on low incomes, black and ethnic-minority groups and disabled people).
We also provide (revenue) funding to deliver football development associated with the new facility e.g. coaching, football development officer etc. The maximum development funding that can be included with a facilities grant is 20% of the total grant awarded.
