We will write to you to tell you we have recived your application and give you a reference number.
We will then carry out an initial assessment to see if you have given us all the necessary information and decide whether your project is eligible for funding.
If we need any more information we will contact you, but this may mean it takes us longer to reach a decision on whether we can give you a grant.
The final decision process is different depending on the size of grant you apply for as follows:
Applications for grants up to and including £20,000
We will present a report on your project to the FSIF Chief Executive and the chair of the Safety Improvement Panel for consideration and approval if appropriate.
As a rough estimate, if you are applying for a grant up to and including £20,000, it will take us on average 8 weeks* to reach a decision.
Applications for grants between £20,001 and £250,000
We will present a report on your project to our Safety Improvement Panel for consideration and approval if appropriate.
As a rough estimate, if you are applying for a grant between £20,001 and £250,000, it will take us on average 12 weeks* to reach a decision.
Applications for grants between £250,001 and £1m
Step 1: We will present a report on your project to our Safety Improvement Panel for consideration.
Step 2: If the Safety Improvement Panel agrees to recomment a grant for your project, we will present a report on your project to our Board of trustees for consideration and approval if appropriate.
As a rough estimate, if you are applying for a grant over £250,000, it will take us on average 18 weeks* to reach a decision.

* The average time for the FSIF to reach a decision, applies only once we have all the information from you that we need.
