Since 2000, the Foundation has awarded £401m
wor th of grants towards grassroots sports projects.
When combined with the partnership funding that
our grants have attracted, a total of £957m has
been invested into developing thousands of new or
refurbished spor ts facilities. These facilities benefit
more than 700,000 people each year.
The amazing difference that the Foundation makes
to improving our local sports infrastructure would
not be possible without the support of our funding
par tners: the Premier League,The FA and the
Government (via Spor t England).
Premier League
“I am proud to have been a Trustee of
the Foundation since we launched it in
the garden of No 10 Downing Street back
in 2000. It is a very special and unique
partnership that links the very top of the
game to its roots and ensures a quality
experience for thousands of grassroots players who play the
game simply for the fun and enjoyment of doing so.
“Foundation facilities not only ensure that more people enjoy
a better experience playing football and other sports, but they
also often act as the catalyst for creating and strengthening
links between clubs and their local communities.”
Richard Scudamore, Chief Executive, Premier League
The FA
“I have visited hundreds of grassroots
football clubs in the last two years since
becoming FA Chairman and have seen at
first-hand the difference that Foundation
investment is making.
“It is essential that we continue to improve
this country’s community football sites.
I regularly hear better facilities cited as the number one
priority for grassroots clubs when I travel around the country.
“The provision of quality facilities supports the superb work
of the volunteers across the country. Without their dedicated
efforts, grassroots football could simply not exist.”
David Bernstein, Chairman,The FA
