Dan Walker becomes
Foundation Ambassador
Football Focus presenter
The Foundation has made a major signing in the
shape of one of the country’s best-known football
TV reporters.
We are delighted that BBC One’s Football Focus
presenter, DanWalker, is the latest public figure to
agree to become one of our Ambassadors. Dan
joins our list of friends that includes Gary Neville,
Gareth Southgate, John Scales, Ben Shephard, Dion
Dublin, GrahamTaylor OBE, Georgie Bingham, Faye
White MBE, and Peter Beardsley MBE. Dan said:
“I am thrilled to become an Ambassador
for the Foundation. The grassroots is so
important to our national game and the
volunteers that give up their weekends,
so people of all ages and abilities can
play for the love of it, deserve all the
help they can get – and decent pitches
and facilities.”
And he has wasted no time in getting out and about
to promote how Foundation partners’ funding is
supporting the millions of grassroots players and
volunteers at the community football level.
Dan presented a cheque for £150,000 of
Foundation funding to develop a brand new floodlit
third generation artificial grass pitch in NorthWest
Sheffield.The newly-created ForgeValley School will
take responsibility for the site’s management and
operation of the artificial pitch.
Wisewood is one of three major sports sites in
the city that the Foundation and Sheffield and
Hallamshire County FA are developing – the other
two being Lowfield’s new third generation pitch and
theWestfield Community Football Centre.
