Welcome to Issue 32 of ONSIDE. Another
exciting season draws to a close, with Sir
Alex bagging his 13th Premier League title.
The Football Foundation has had a similarly
successful year at the grassroots of the game.
In the last 12 months we have funded a
further 180 facility projects worth £18m,
and increased sports participation by 13.3%
across all our funded facilities. None of this
would have been possible without the help
and support of our funding partners – the
Premier League,The FA and Government
(via Sport England) – as well as other key
partners, such as the Mayor of London and
Barclays, and of course our colleagues in
the County FAs who provide us with such
fantastic support.
This Issue is packed full of stories that bring
our work at the grassroots to life. The Before
and After feature on
visually conveys the dramatic transformation
that takes place when a project benefits from
a Foundation grant.
The Foundation delivers the Mayor of
London’s Facility Fund and Match Report on
nalyses how this fund is
making a huge difference by improving sports
facilities across the capital – a real 2012
legacy for Londoners.
I am delighted to welcome former England
and Premier League star, Graeme le Saux, as
our newest Ambassador (page six).
The next Issue of ONSIDE will include a
special report into how investment into the
country’s grassroots sport infrastructure
through the Foundation can benefit the UK
economy by creating economic growth and
generating local jobs.
In the meantime, thank you for your
support! I hope that you enjoy reading this
Issue of ONSIDE.
