S ky Sports News anchor Hayley McQueen paid her first visit to one our facilities in her role as a Foundation Ambassador as she officially opened a stunning new 3G pitch at Woodhouse College in Finchley. The North London school received a total of £470,554 towards the project. Almost as a tribute to her name, hailstones rained down onto the pitch as the event began – so it was a good thing it was an all-weather surface! Hayley unveiled a ceremonial plaque and spoke to students about her career and love for the grassroots game. The pitch is now being enjoyed by the College’s students, as well as the main partner clubs: AC Finchley, Oakhill Tigers FC, Alexandra Park Youth FC, Olympiacos Youth FC, Whetstone Wanderers FC and Old ALL HAYL MCQUEEN – SKY PRESENTER UNVEILS NEW 3G F ormer England defender, Chris Powell, was at Northolt High School in Ealing to officially open the schools’ refurbished 3G artificial grass pitch, in his first role as a Football Foundation Ambassador. The project was made possible thanks to a successful £288,034 grant application by Ealing Council and Northolt High School. The pitch is benefiting the local community as well as Northolt pupils, with Brentford FC Community Sports Trust delivering Premier League Kicks sessions there. Currently Assistant Manager at Derby County FC, Chris chatted to the school’s staff and students about the difference that the pitch has made for them, as well as his own experiences as a youth player trying to make it as a professional. Head CHRIS POWELL OPENS NEW SCHOOL FACILITY IN EALING Teacher Gloria Lowe remarked that as well as some pupils who had been using the pitch already being recruited by clubs’ academies, the school had themselves recruited a PE teacher from a Premier League Kicks session! Woodhouseians FC. Further plans for the site include disabled football in conjunction with the Middlesex FA, a girls’ competitive league and community work by the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation.
