They generously give their time to help us convey the impact that we are making through targeting our Funding Partners’ investment. Here are some of them out and about with us. IN ACTION F oundation Ambassador Dion Dublin was joined by fellow ex-Leicester City FC player, Matt Elliott, as he opened Wreake Valley Academy’s stunning new all-weather pitch – somewhere the former striker used to play as a youngster! The new floodlit facility, helped with a £350,740 grant from the Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund, will not only be used extensively by the school’s 1,300 students but also by a number of local grassroots football clubs, including Syston Town JFC and Riverside FC. “I used to play in the Sunday League in this neck of the woods – in fact I played against Syston Town JFC when I was younger!” recalled Dion. The Leicester City FC Community Trust will use the pitch as a hub for a number of its programmes, running sessions in the evenings and during school holidays. They will also host their ‘Player Pathway’ satellite sessions on the site, with the best young players given an opportunity to progress into the Leicester Academy.
