Football Foundation - football's biggest supporter

celebrating grass roots football

On Wednesday 18 November 2009 the Football Foundation held a small event at Nike Town London to establish and strengthen relationships with key influencers, policy makers, media contacts and funding partners. Capacity at the venue was limited however we had a great turn out.

The evening was hosted by our very own Community Assessment Panel Chairman Mick Dennis and included a Questions and Answers session with Aidy Boothroyd and Alan Curbishley. Both were asked a couple of questions about their managerial lives and Alan was very open to answer questions about his recent situation with West Ham United. Although the main messages from the Q&A was about the good work that the Foundation has done in building facilities around the country and bringing communities together with its work.

Even though we had positive words from both Aidy and Alan the show was stolen by a young man called Ibrahim, a participant from the 'Breaking Barriers' project. Ibrahim stood up in front of an audience full of influential people and was able to talk openly about his life experiences. This is a frightful experience for even the most experienced speaker, but Ibrahim was the most relaxed guest speaker on stage and answered all the questions honestly and from the heart which made for poignant listening.

If you would like to listen to the entire Q&A with Aidy, Alan and Ibrahim please play the video clip below.

We would like to thank our friends at Nike for providing us with the venue of Nike Town free of charge and to the LMA (League Managers Association) for arranging our guest speakers.
