In June 2010, Galaxy Windows FC were awarded a grant towards increasing the number of teams at the club, and to improve the standard of coaching.
The grant was spent sending coaches on FA training courses in order to improve the level of coaching at the training sessions and also allowed for pitch hire to be paid for which enabled the club to use purpose built facilities during the winter months.
The club is based on a small island off the south coast of England joined to the town of Weymouth by a 3 mile narrow causeway and with only one other Football Club on the island which is the town club, Portland Utd. The grant has allowed the club to expand who now have three adult team.
Galaxy Windows FC have had the chance to start a youth academy with parents volunteering to help out at training sessions. The steps to set up the youth academy have been set in motion and the club have sent staff on coaching courses to support the level of activity.
During the 2010/11 season with the introduction of the club's first new team saw an increase to 70 players from 30 from the previous season. With a second new team being created for the 2011/12 season, the club will have over 100 players registered and are hoping to concentrate on the youth academy to see the numbers to contiune to rise.
