ROBINS GET MASSIVE COMMUNITY BOOST
press release
The Bristol City Football in the Community Scheme will be handed over a cheque for £128,882 prior to kick off of the game against Oldham on Saturday. The money will fund a community scheme aimed at increasing participation and developing the game amongst the city’s young players.

The project aims to provide organised positive activity in which young people can achieve personal success, enjoy challenging activities, team work and improve their basic fitness and health.

The key focus of the project is to deliver the football development programme, to address the needs of young people particularly those from ethnic minority and disadvantaged backgrounds who have too often felt excluded from the game.

The Foundation is dedicated to revitalising the grass roots of the game, constructing modern football facilities, developing football as a force for social cohesion and as a vehicle for education in communities throughout the country. Funded by the FA Premier League, The Football Association, Sport England and the Government, the Football Foundation is the nation’s largest sports charity with a £53m budget directed into the very heart of football.

Welcoming the award Lord Pendry, Chairman of the Football Foundation said:

“For too long there has been an under investment in community links and more often than not members of our communities have felt excluded. Football has the unique ability to unite communities, promote social inclusion and provide educational opportunities for young people throughout the country and the Foundation is determined to continue to boost its role as a force for good in society.”
