MASSIVE FOOTBALL GRANT FOR SANDHURST
press release
Footballers of Sandhurst Town Boys and Girls FC were today celebrating the announcement of a £262,375 funding package from the Football Foundation, the nation’s largest sports charity.

This massive award will allow the ambitious club to replace their existing worn out changing rooms by providing a modern sports complex, including female changing facilities, two match officials’ rooms and a social and coaching area. All changing rooms will include integral showers and toilets. It is hoped these new facilities will boost participation in the area, particularly amongst the town’s women and girl players.

The remainder of the project funding will be made up from generous contributions from Bracknell Forest Borough Council, Sandhurst Town Council and Marks & Spencer.

The Foundation is dedicated to revitalising the grass roots of the game, constructing modern football facilities, developing football as a force for social cohesion and as a vehicle for education in communities throughout the country. Funded by the FA Premier League, The Football Association, Sport England and the Government, the Football Foundation is the nation’s largest sports charity with a £53m budget directed into the very heart of football.

Lord Pendry, Chairman of the Football Foundation welcomed this latest funding package:

“Over £25m has already been spent by the Foundation ensuring that youngsters get access to the very best football facilities possible. This new sports complex will come as a welcome boost for footballers in Sandhurst and I congratulate the club for their open membership policy, ensuring that youngsters and adults of all abilities and from all backgrounds get access to the type of infrastructure that they deserve.”

Sandhurst Chairman - Phil Sigley said:

"This has been a marathon task for the club spanning 10 years of roller coaster activity. The club and the town will greatly benefit from this much improved scheme which facilitates possibilities for growth and provides a much needed platform from which to improve the quality of the service that we offer. We are so pleased that the Football Foundation supported the merits of our application which will give much needed confidence to the many volunteers upon whom we rely to be on hand every week to ensure that the club runs smoothly.

We have had some fantastic support from many people but Chris Smith at Sandhurst Town Council has provided much needed input and guidance and also our Club Development Committee Chaired by Peter Morris has done a brilliant job in taking us to FA Charter Standard status.”
