The ribbon has been cut on a new changing room facility at Saffron Dynamo Football Club, funded by the Football Foundation.
Saffron Dynamo FC, who recently received the prestigious FA Charter Standard Community Club award, cater for girls’ and boys’ from the Cosby, Whetstone and Blaby areas. The new facility will allow the club to expand and develop new teams to meet the high demand for junior football in the region.
The sports pavilion comprises of: four changing rooms; an eighty square metre function room; and kitchen amenities.
The club worked in partnership with the Leicestershire & Rutland County FA to secure a £228,596 grant from the Football Foundation. Funded by the Premier League, The FA, and the Government (via Sport England), the Football Foundation is the country’s largest sports charity. Since it was launched in 2000, the Foundation has awarded around 8,000 grants worth more than £420m towards improving grassroots sport, which it has used to attract additional partnership funding of over £520m.
Martin Stanley, Development Manager at Saffron Dynamo FC, said: “This facility has been the pipe dream of the club for so many years and has now become the reality for so many people to enjoy. Saffron Dynamo FC has been well renowned in Leicestershire for almost 50 years, and will next year celebrate it’s Golden Jubilee.
“The facilities today would and could not have come to fruition without the dedication and efforts of The Football Foundation, the Leicestershire & Rutland County FA and patrons of the club.”
Paul Thorogood, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation, said: “I am delighted to see this tremendous new facility complete and ready for use by the local community. The dedication and hard work of Saffron Dynamo FC and Leicestershire & Rutland County FA over a number of years has resulted inthe successful completion of this project.
“Now the important work begins to ensure the facility remains sustainable and benefits as many people as possible.
"None of this would be possible without the crucial cash provided by our funding partners The FA, the Premier League and the Government."
