New Spurs hotshot Darren Bent joined youngsters over at Woodlands Primary School in Kent to open their new 3G pitch – and even joined in on a five-a-side match.
Darren showed off some skills to the school team, who also received a free strip as part of the Foundation’s Junior Kit Scheme. Some of Woodlands’ girls meanwhile displayed their cheerleading and dance skills in Foundation t-shirts.
A Foundation grant of £815,470 is funding a range of other improvements including the a brand new changing pavilion. A £70,000 grant from Nike has also gone towards a brand new Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) catering for football, hockey, basketball, netball and tennis.
Darren Bent said: “This fantastic new sports complex at Woodlands Primary is going to be a massive benefit to the school’s youngsters and the local community. In just seven years Football Foundation funding has made a huge difference by improving local facilities like this one at Woodlands Primary in Kent and long may it continue.”

The investment that the Premier League, The FA and the Government provide enables the Football Foundation to breathe new life into communities and increase opportunities for people to play sport.”
