subject Hythe Town Council opens new facility – Hythe Sports Pavilion
press release

Local people in the Hythe area are getting ready to celebrate the opening of a new Sports Pavilion. The official opening of the Hythe Sports Pavilion will take place at noon on 7th August at South Road Recreation Ground, by the Mayor of Hythe, Councillor Mrs Keren Belcourt.

The new pavilion will allow Hythe Town Council to operate a state of the art building for the benefit of football, cricket and other community purposes for Hythe and its hinterland.

Funded by the Premier League, The Football Association and the Government, the Football Foundation is the nation’s largest sports charity. Launched in July 2000, the Foundation celebrates its tenth anniversary this summer and has so far supported 8,000 community sports projects worth £920m.

Judith McCormick, Town Clerk of Hythe Town Council said: “We are delighted with this new facility and we are very grateful to the Football Foundation and the other funders for their support – not only financially but with the technical support offered.  The building is already becoming a hub and several teams have already either achieved FA Charter Standard status or they are working towards it.”

Paul Thorogood, Chief Executive of the Football Foundation said: “We are delighted that all the local football clubs and the local community will have access to these fantastic new facilities and commend Hythe Town Council and the Kent County FA for their hard work in making this happen.”

“Sport is playing a central role in helping people to stay fit, strengthen communities and promote responsibility amongst young people. This is the latest example of thousands of projects across the country that the Football Foundation is supporting with money provided by our funding partners the Premier League, The FA and Government.”
