Barclays Spaces for Sports

Barclays Spaces for Sports has delivered 200 sustainable sports sites, awarded more than 4,000 coaching packs and given more than half a million people across the UK the opportunity to benefit.

The Barclays Spaces for Sports scheme is a partnership between Barclays, Groundwork and the Football Foundation. Barclays has committed more than £37 million to Barclays Spaces for Sports since its inception, along with a further £30m donated and raised by partners the Football Foundation

Twenty-six flagship sites in partnership with professional football clubs have been delivered alongside a number of local sites which have also been created, offering a range of sports including basketball, netball and tennis through to skateboard and BMX tracks.

Every site is supplied with sports equipment with further support available to help the community get the most out of the new facilities.

Following its success in the UK the programme was extended globally in 2008 and to date 13 projects have been launched. These include projects in China, Hong Kong, India, South Africa, Spain, the UK, the US, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Barclays investment in the Spaces for Sports programme represents the largest ever investment in grassroots sport by a private sector company in the UK.

Please note, the Barclays Spaces for Sports Project is no longer receiving new applications for the local site or flagship element of the programme.
