Bristol Rovers’ Extra Time project engages over 60's and people with Alzheimer’s in weekly physical and social activities in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
The project offers the opportunity to enhance people’s physical and mental wellbeing through a variety of stimulating physical and social activities. These activities look to develop their confidence in their own abilities, helping the individual’s agility, balance and coordination, as well as muscle strength and mobility.
The two-hour sessions take place every Tuesday morning either at the Memorial Stadium (home of Bristol Rovers Football Club) or at a local leisure centre in Bradley Stoke.
Due to the diverse nature of the group Bristol Rovers have held a variety of activities in order to be as inclusive and engaging as possible.
The activities the participants have taken part in so far include:
● Badminton
● Table tennis
● Walking trips
● Tai Chi
● Darts and skittles competitions
● Armchair exercise classes
● Exercise in the gym
● Bowling
● Day trips to Bath and Gloucester.
