Aston Villa’s Community Department focuses on two key areas: football development and education. The department not only coaches children, but teaches them about the benefits of healthy living and provides them with essential life skills.  This is carried out through running soccer schools and clinics as well as through their Villa Vitality programme and their state of the art Ice Gym. Their dedication to community work extends to providing coaching for children with special needs, they even have their own electric wheelchair side, the Villa Rockets.

Martin O'Neill is fully supportive of the Community Department's work. He said: "Many people still feel that football clubs are limited to the affairs of the first team. While this is obviously very important, we believe there is much more to Aston Villa than just attempting to win Premier League matches.”

  • the children’s gym to learn how to use the equipment safely

  • split between visiting a classroom in the ‘Learning Zone’ for interactive sessions on food and  visiting  the Villa Radio Station

This project was launched on 19 June 2008 in conjunction with the PL/PFA National Launch at Aston Villa Football Club.
