birmingham city football in the community

The Football in The Community Department is a registered charity and has been providing grassroots football for the last eleven years. The department has an extensive work programme stretching across Birmingham, North and South Solihull, Halesowen, Bromsgrove, Redditch, Evesham as well as Sutton Coldfield and Tamworth. The aim of the department is to improve the quality of life within the community through football, regardless of social status, ethnic origin, gender, location or level of ability. It is a chance forBirmingham City Football Club to give something back to the community. Football and multi sport coaching programmes are offered to the community through school programmes, which are aimed at primary and secondary school children, as well as to young people over the age of 16 who are offered a coach education programme.

 The Football Education Programme

A project for young people aged 16-19 to help them stay in education, employment or training.

The young people take part in football training, leagues and also an education programme. Students are offered a wide range of courses to take part in such as BTEC Level 1,2 and 3 and Key Skills in ICT and Communication. It is a full time course that combines football training four mornings per week, and classroom activities in the afternoons.

Each student has their own tutor for one to one support and group tutorials.

This project was successfully launched on the 14th of May 2009.
