Derby County in the Community is currently under the process of achieving charitable status; it is a scheme aimed at creating, developing and delivering opportunities for children and adults to participate in high quality physical activity irrespective of age, gender, ability, ethnicity and social circumstance. The Community Scheme was inaugurated in 1999 as a result of the union between Derby County Football Club and the Footballers Further Education and Vocational Training Society (FFE & VTS). The programme delivers a range of activities to the county of Derbyshire, engaging with around 30,000 children and adults to carry out this programme.
Derby b – active fest: Bringing Sport and Physical Activity to your doorstep
An interactive project that helps young people to access leisure and sports opportunities on a regular basis. 11-16 year olds can gain information via the many roadshows that will be taking place throughout the county. Young people can then gain further information about local sports and leisure opportunities through the ‘b-active’ website. Once logged on participants will receive a ‘b-active’ incentive card that reduces the cost of many activities.
B-active is an excellent project for young people who are looking to increase their physical activity and make new friends.
B-active was launched on 15 September 2008 at Derby County Football Club.
