liverpool football club in the community

The Liverpool community programme is a registered charity. Its work focuses on education delivered at the Red Zone Learning Centre in the heart of the Anfield stadium with a variety of community initiatives. Examples include:

  • Respect 4 All

A disability focused project providing quality football coaching to over 25 special needs schools. During 2006/07 season, LFC held two football tournaments for children and adults with physical and learning disabilities at the LFC Academy.

  • Truth 4 Youth

A sports and education package for schools delivering key messages on bullying, anti-racism, drugs and violence and has a huge impact on the primary schools it reaches.

  • The Sweeper Zone

An environmental project now in its fifth year involving local schools, sports and youth centres and resident and community groups, and recently received the Environmental Citizen of the Year Award from Liverpool City Council.

To date, the football club has been supportive of the community work, donating significant funds to enable the community programmeto deliver all their work free of charge.

Tactics 4 Families

This is a projected orientated around family support and encouraged by Liverpool Football Club.

Classroom and sports hall lessons take place encouraging over 160 children and their parents/carers to learn about family relationships. These sessions are combined with match day events and fun activities for the family at the Academy.

LFC Respect 4 All (Disability) Coaching Centre

This project provides football and other sports coaching to young people with disabilities.

It is hosted within an accessible sport centre and provides a great opportunity for families to share this regular leisure event.

Young people aged 11-16 from the Merseyside area take part in impairment specific football and multi-sports coaching sessions four evenings per week during the school term.

This project greatly increases the number of opportunities for young people with disabilities to participate in. It also provides an excellent opportunity for disabled young people to achieve a coaching or refereeing qualification.

For more information about getting involved contact Liverpool FC's community department as above.
