Hoops 4 Health

Everton in the Community and the Everton Tigers Basketball team are working closely with Schools Partnership Development Managers to provide an exciting opportunity for schools to take part in a programme of basketball activities. This includes:

  • Health and Lifestyles Road Shows – introduces Year 5 pupils to healthy eating, anti-smoking, the benefits of exercise and basketball.
  • Basketball Coaching – Year 5 students from each school will take part in a one hour training session over six weeks.
  • Basketball Festivals – take place at the end of school term to celebrate the children’s hard work. The teams who perform to the highest standard are invited to take part in a grand final at an Everton Tigers basketball game.
  • Volunteering - EiTC will recruit volunteers, mainly from secondary schools in the project catchment area and provide accredited sports qualifications to be accessed by both volunteers and teachers: e.g. Level 1 Basketball, Sports Leadership Awards.
  • Research - University students will be recruited to carry our research on the project to analyse its impact in terms of health, fitness, social outcomes and basketball development. The project will also be publicised through diverse media channels to raise the profile of EiTC's basketball development and the role played by the projects' key partners.
