the tigers sport and education trust

The Tigers Sport and Education Trust, formerly known as the Hull City Football in the Community, was set up in 1990 and has since become a well established, progressive and self-supporting scheme that reaches out to communicate within the Hull and East Riding area. It is managed by the ex-Hull City goalkeeper, John Davies.  The scheme’s main targets have been to improve the range of services on offer thus encouraging a greater number of young people to access football activities. Its aims are to:

  • To enthuse, stimulate and challenge children through football
  • To raise awareness of all our activities and encourage participation within the community
  • To encourage children to support Hull City Football Club
  • To maintain and develop positive relationships within the community
  • To highlight the benefits of a healthy lifestyle
  • To provide positive role models for children.

After being successfully promoted to the Premier League, the Trust is curerntly working with the PL/PFA Community Fund to deliver more high quality initiatives in the community.

fit to play

A project for schools, focusing on fitness, healthy eating and healthy living.

Year 5 classes receive two-hour fitness and learning sessions each week, for five weeks. This includes football coaching and classroom based subjects such as alcohol awareness, anti-smoking, health education and personal wellbeing.

All schools and participants receive a tour of the KC Stadium and the chance to compete for Hull City FC's prizes once they have completed the course.

Children who want to continue with the sessions can join the after-school and holiday club, which take place on a regular basis and involve the whole family.

Fit to Play was launched on the 6th of October at the KC Stadium; children demonstrated football skills they had learned and also took part in a smoothie making exercise.

For further information on this project, please contact John Davies or Marc Ledingham on 01482 304758.
