Multi-Sports Access and Retention Scheme (m.a.r.s.)
This project delivers five Olympic sports to juniors, young adults and people with disabilities.
Juniors (7-11 year olds) are coached on a regular basis to introduce them to football, tennis, handball, basketball and athletics. The same five sports will also be delivered to people with disabilities, giving a real taste of Olympic coaching.
Young adults (16+ age group) also receive coaching in the five core sports, but more emphasis is placed on maintaining their interest in sports through encouraging players to join local clubs.
The final section of this Olympic themed programme is the opportunity to attain qualifications in all five sports.
This project was successfully launched on the 14 May 2009.
