Duncan Watmore


Duncan Watmore is a professional football player, plying his trade at Sunderland AFC and for the England Under-21 national side. He played a key part in the Sunderland team that escaped relegation at the end of the 2015/16 season and was part of the England Under-21 squad that won the 2016 Toulon Tournament, their first such win for 22 years. Duncan is also a University of Newcastle graduate, having achieved first-class honours in Business Management & Economics.

Duncan is a Football Foundation Ambassador. Our Ambassadors support the Foundation's commitment to building better community sports facilities across the county, which support the health of the nation – its people, communities and economy.

I'm absolutely delighted to be a Football Foundation Ambassador because I've seen first-hand how crucial their work is. The Foundation has been around for 16 years now, during which time it has delivered 589 of these artificial grass pitches and I know the work to build even more continues.
