Funding partners

The Football Foundation is Funded by the Premier League, the FA and the Government

We are funded by the Premier LeagueThe FASport England and Government and work closely with our partners so that our mutual objectives are achieved.

Premier League

We work with the Premier League to:

  • Achieve positive social outcomes.

  • Integrate professional clubs and players into wider and more ambitious community activity.

  • Set a standard for community work.

  • Support clubs in utilizing their assets (players, facilities, etc) more productively for community work, and ensure that they receive appropriate recognition.

  • Develop best practice in community projects and disseminate this best practice.

The FA

We work with The FA to:

  • Maintain, improve and increase the stock of community accessible football facilities.

  • Retain the number of people who currently play football and introduce new participants to the national game

  • Increase the number of FA ‘affiliated’ players.

  • Support growth in football, particularly in under represented groups.

  • Introduce safe playing environments. 

  • Continue to support four of the seven themes in The FA’s National Game Strategy:

    a) Growth and retention
    b) Raising standards
    c) Workforce development
    d) Facilities


We work with Sport England and DCMS to:

  • Use football as a gateway to increasing participation in sport.

  • Deliver key elements of the DCMS's agenda, where football and sport can deliver effectively.

  • Work with other agencies to provide sustainable, multi-sport projects.
