The Football Foundation is the country's largest sports charity. It funds the development of better sports facilities for communities across the country with money provided by the Premier League, The FA and the Government (via Sport England). Launched in July 2000, the Foundation has so far supported more than 9,000 community sports projects worth around £1billion.

Upshot is a pioneering online tool that the Football Foundation has developed. It enables organisations to manage, monitor and evidence their community projects and allows grant givers to measure and analyse the impact of their investment. Upshot has been so well received that it is now being used by over 700 different organisations, including sports governing bodies and foundations, County Sports Partnerships, universities, wildlife trusts, housing associations, local authorities and international NGOs.

The role

We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic intern to experience one of the most rewarding year-in-industry placements out there. Our Marketing Officer Intern will help communicate the role and activities of the Football Foundation with a focus on Upshot. You will produce articles for the Upshot website, create marketing collateral, film & edit client testimonial videos and much more. What are we looking for?

Successful candidates will have some experience in marketing and communications and have experience in using social media as a marketing tool. Any previous experience of working with content creation for website and social channels is desirable. They will most likely be a current student in a relevant degree subject, such as marketing or public relations.

The post holder will have to work to tight deadlines and be a proactive self-starter. They will need to combine a creative mind with strong organisational skills and a strong work ethic. Candidates must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both oral and written, as well as the ability to work as part of a team.


This is an exciting opportunity within the Football Foundation to make a real difference to grassroots football.  The successful applicant will be a self-starter and a team player, willing to play their part in an exciting environment
