Football Foundation named as finalist in 2017 Football Business Awards

The Football Foundation has just been unveiled as one of the finalists for the 2017 Football Business Awards. 

The awards, currently in its sixth year and held at Tobacco Dock on 2nd November, is the leading ceremony celebrating the business of football. 

The shortlist comprises of entries from the likes of clubs, agencies, sponsors and technology providers, showcasing all companies that have had a significant impact on the beautiful game. With attention so often focused on the pitch, the awards give the industry’s off-pitch stars the recognition they deserve.

Rory Carroll, Head of Communications at the Football Foundation, explained: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for a 2017 Football Business Award. 

"This is testament to the dedication of the Foundation’s staff and modern delivery systems which are transforming the landscape of the grassroots game using investment from the Premier League, The FA and government.”

Some examples cited of how the Foundation is transforming lives and communities include:

  • How one of our all-weather facilities facilitated the growth of Middlesbrough FC Foundation’s work to combat depression and other mental health challenges through participation in football


  • A new sports hub at Kirkby Leisure Centre in Knowsley, which is set to increase local participation by 927% 


  • An interview with Foundation Ambassador Hayley McQueen, where she explains the difference a school’s new Foundation-funded sports complex is making to pupils and local people


  • A link to the ‘Impact’ section of our website which details all projects across the country that the Foundation has+ made happen with our Funders’ investment.
