Monday 14 October 2012 saw the opening of a brand new BMX track open at Mile End Park in Tower Hamlets through funding support from the Mayor of London: Facility Fund, Access Sport, and the Tower Hamlets Council. The constructed track conforms to British Cycle Association guidelines at junior level with a 60m length track with a width of 4m.

The new track at Mile End Park is part of Access Sport’s BMX Legacy Project, which has seen the creation of five new community-focused BMX clubs and tracks in the Olympic host boroughs.

BMX Project Officer, Saumbera Wiedenmannott said: “Small starter tracks like the one at Mile End Park are perfect for a variety of BMX abilities—beginner riders can use it to learn and develop their skills, while more experienced riders can use it for practicing speed and technique.  Additionally, the start and end points of the Tower Hamlets track are linked together, which creates a continuous loop for riders.”

The track is now open to the public with regular coaching sessions every Saturday from 1pm-3pm.
