Mayor of London: Facilities Fund

Saturday 10 September 2011 saw Orion Harriers officially open their new clubhouse in Epping Forest which was possible thanks to a £50,000 grant from the Mayor of London fund. The Opening comprised of speeches, the unveiling of the Orion sign followed by 150 members setting off on the inaugural run.

The running club have used the site at Jubillee Retreat, Epping Forest as a base for clubs meets and runs for over 100 years. The new clubhouse includes changing facilities with showers, a club room, kitchen and an office. The building will be fully accessible with an adjacent external car park to the rear to meet current requirements

The 600 Orion Harriers members, half of whom are under 20, are drawn from the local community and all will have access to the facility before, during and after the 11 training sessions per week. Additionally, runners at the various open races, league races and schools events (more than two per month throughout the year) will also use the new facility.
